Enhanced Removal of Diesel Oil Using New Magnetic Bentonite-Based Adsorbents Combined with Different Carbon Sources

Abstract In this work, new magnetic bentonite-based adsorbents combined with different carbon sources, namely, reduced graphene oxide and multiwall nanotubes, were synthesized via co-precipitation method. The characterized using XRD, TGA, SEM, EDX, TEM, BET analysis techniques. then used to remove oil from aqueous solutions of water-in-oil emulsion by performing batch adsorption experiments. experimental data fitted three isotherm models including Langmuir, Freundlich, Sips non-linear regression compared Akaike Information Criterion statistical model. showed that model best fits the for onto both adsorbents. maximum capacity sips 81.65 mg/g 77.12 Fe 3 O 4 /Bent/rGO //Bent/MWCNTs, respectively. obtained kinetics pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, intraparticle diffusion models. Pseudo-second order kinetic Overall, high removal efficiency reaching equilibrium in less than 50 min indicating can be successfully utilized industrial process. Graphical abstract
